Since backyard grilling is a common activity in every home, barbecue grills are also a staple in backyards, they just all differ in terms of size and types. Basically, there are three different types of barbecue grills: charcoal, gas and electric.

Charcoal grills are the cheapest kind of grill available in the market today and is one of the more popular type, the other one being the gas grill. Charcoal grill is a convenient grill that you can bring anywhere just as long as you have charcoal with you. This is the most portable grill because you won’t have to bring gas tank or find electricity wherever you go, plus charcoal can be bought just about anywhere.

Other than its portability, charcoal grills also give more taste to the meat. With gas or electric, you will taste no distinct flavor, but with charcoal grills, you’ll really have the best barbecue. Even professional chefs prefers charcoal grills in grilling than other types because of the distinct taste that it adds to the meat.

Charcoal bbq grills also have its disadvantages. The first thing is that it is harder to light than gas or electric grill. It requires more work and more attention because you have to look at the fire and keep it steady so it won’t burn the meat. Another thing is that it creates mess after grilling. You would have to regularly clean it out to avoid accumulating rust on the grill.

In cleaning your charcoal bbq grill, you have to soak it in hot soapy water to loosen food particles that stick in the grill. You can also use cleaning brush to remove stubborn food particles. Then use soap and water to clean it and put it under the sun to dry. If you see rust starting to build up, paint your grill to cover the rust.

Although the cooking and cleaning time for charcoal grills takes a longer time, the meat that you cooked in it will be tasty and have a certain flavor that only charcoal bbq grilling can achieve. With its cheap price and portability, you will find that charcoal grills could be your best bet when it comes to grilling.
